Purity of Gujarat: Navigating Supply Chain, Scaling, and Sustainability Challenges in a Micro-Enterprise
Case Overview
If passion had a flavor, for Khushboo Gupta, it would be the rich aroma of pure spices and honey. The founder of “Purity of Gujarat” carved her niche in the entrepreneurial world by blending the wisdom of tradition with the insights of modern science. Khushboo Gupta’s entrepreneurial journey is rooted deeply in her personal aspirations and academic background. A Home Science graduate, Khushboo developed a deep interest in food purity during her college years. After her first venture failed, she emerged stronger, determined to create a meaningful and authentic brand. In 2017, Khushboo launched Purity of Gujarat with a focused product line—pure handpicked spices from Deesa and raw tribal honey sourced from the forests of Ambaji, Gujarat. Equipped with the scientific testing skills she had mastered during her studies, Khushboo personally checked every batchto maintain uncompromised purity. To reach potential customers, she actively engaged with the Dwarka Moms Facebook community, using product videos, demonstrations, and free samples to build trust and create awareness. Despite these efforts, the initial phase posed several challenges. Many customers hesitated at first—the strong natural taste of pure honey was unfamiliar to them.Seasonal changes, disrupted supply, and ever-rising transportation costs made the business financially fragile. Although Khushboo made sincere attempts to overcome these constraints, the financial pressure persisted. With spices yielding minimal profit and operational expenses steadily rising, she reached a critical decision-making stage. It became necessary for her to evaluate the sustainability of her product line and decide whether to continue the venture as is, modify her offerings, or temporarily pause her dream to strategize anew.
